Friday Update: 26 January 2024
Editorial
After a couple of weeks away for Christmas and a holiday, it’s good to be back.
Once the detecting bug gets you, it can stay with you for a long time. Our Find of the Week is a gold stater, found some 40 years since and described by the finder, Rob Warwick, as the most beautiful thing he has ever found. And Hansons have an auction this week dedicated to the collection of a late detectorist that was amassed over 40 years. The auctioneer says “His passions in life were nature, wildlife and metal detecting. Apparently, he loved anything ancient.“
Hansons have some much more recent finds in their auction in February – several were found in 2023.
