Friday Update: 18 November 2022
Editorial
It’s nearly Christmas so we have Five Gold Rings for you. The seller of one of them last week said “It’s not quite King Arthur’s ring, but it’s the next thing down“. The other four, all found in the last three years, are up for auction in Noonan’s auction on 29 November 2022. The star lot is the Lady Brook ring and it’s another tale of a detectorist who was just about to call it a day when he had his “find of a lifetime“.
We’ve eight more readers finds including, as has become the norm of late, a rare Anglo-Saxon sceatta. And in PAS finds we have another foreign coin that is considered of Regional Importance. It’s a drachm of Khosrow II; how did a coin from modern day Iran end up in the Wirral in the 6th/7th century.
