Friday Update: 11 November 2022
Editorial
Our Find of the Week this week is a groat of Henry VIII. The finder, Tony Hollis, sent in two sets of images of the coin and as you’ll see in the article on the coin they present a very different view of the same coin. It illustrates how the lighting and background can have a dramatic affect when photographing coins. We were also pleased to continue our trend of recent weeks of having a rare Anglo-Saxon sceatta.
In the news is the sale this week of the Barnety Bull Rider which the PAS say is a unique piece. In PAS finds there’s a wire kopek of Peter the Great. We’ve the story behind the coinage and a guide on how to decipher the notoriously difficult to read legends.
