Half sovereign of Edward VII

This coin came in from John Wyer, who described it as a gold sovereign. However, the diameter was said to be 18mm so it must be a half sovereign.

The coin has the head of Edward VII on the obverse and is dated 1910 beneath the image of St. George and the dragon on the reverse.  It has a few slight marks on the reverse so I would grade this half sovereign as VF to EF.

Valuation

The price of gold full and half sovereigns can vary a great deal between different buyers and sellers. At the current price of gold on the international market a half sovereign should be worth at around £170. It is well worth shopping around for the best price, which would be offered by a bullion dealer rather than your local jeweller.
