London penny of Edward I
This is the second of two coins that John Lashmar asked if I could identify and provide him with a valuation.
The coin is a London penny of Edward I, of which a large number of varieties are on record. From the style of the lettering and the star on the king’s breast this has to be an example of class 9b.
Valuation
This isn’t a scarce coin but it would grade Fine and has a good portrait of King Edward on the obverse, so it should be worth £20 to a collector of coins of the first Edwardian period.
