This week, I was reading an article in the British Medical Journal in which a consultant psychiatrist, Beth Chapman talks about the benefits her hobby of detecting brings her “It’s peaceful, it allows you to focus on something just for yourself, and, if you join a club, it can connect you with like-minded people“. Beth talks about the rush that comes from hearing the tell-tale beep knowing there’s a chance that you’ve struck gold and then finding that it’s just a button. One of our readers certainly experienced that rush with his find of a gold ryal of Edward IV.
