Friday Update: 5 May 2023
Editorial
A couple of finds in this week’s update provide an insight into how the way we look at things has changed. The first is a PAS find which encourages boys to do their chivalrous duty at a time of war. The second a Roman ring which would have been given to a child with a design that we would now consider to be completely inappropriate.
That ring also forms one of our recurring themes on this website; celebrating the work of detectorists to unearth these rare artefacts for everyone to see. On that theme, a very rare penny of Malcolm IV of Scotland found in 2020 is to go on display in Dunfermline.
Seven more readers finds including two coins of William III, struck as part of the Great Recoinage of English currency.
