Friday Update – 3 September 2021
Editorial
This week, I have a further update on the NCMD dispute. A second offer of mediation is withdrawn and there is further fallout in terms of resignations and expulsions. The longer this dispute is allowed to rumble on the more damage it will do. Surely it is better to undertake mediation with no pre-conditions. It is one of those situations where it is better to have tried and failed than not have tried at all.
There are five more readers’ finds, including a George III sovereign. PAS finds include a very important denarius of Carausius. I preview DNW’s coin and artefacts auction and in the news is the story of the first Earl of Montgomery and his vervel, a detecting find which has been declared Treasure.
