Friday Update – 4 June 2021
Editorial
This week’s identifications include a rare Alexander III penny and a quarter noble of Henry IV.
The DNW auction was something of a mixed bag with a Aureus of Nero and Agrippina fetching twice its estimate. However, the denarius of Carausius, which was expected to make more than £20,000, failed to sell.
The PAS review includes an extremely rare copper pattern penny of Elizabeth I. I was pleased to receive a comment on my PAS review from a couple of weeks ago saying that he was the finder. Please let me know if you record something with the PAS in the future, which you think readers might be interested in.
