Friday Update: 11 August 2023
Editorial
A slightly shorter edition this week as I’m away on holiday. We always publish any readers finds that come in each week and this week we have another five, including a Berwick farthing of Edward III. In PAS Finds there’s a 4th Century Roman token from the Festival of Isis, a very rare find for this country. There’s some mystery as to when in the year it was issued and for what purpose and how did it end up here. Plus, there’s a mourning ring considered to be of National Importance. It is less than 300 years old and as it was found in June is not considered for Treasure. Because of its connections to an historical figure, it probably would be Treasure under the new rules.
