Spink set a world record for an Elizabeth I coin this week when they sold a pattern groat for £480,000. Several other coins in the Horace Hird collection significantly exceeded their estimates.
Seven new Readers’ finds including a rare Conobelinus Lyre Player type of Ancient British silver unit. In PAS finds is a 19th century mourning ring and the lock bolt from a Roman tumbler lock.
In the news is the story of how a detectorist’s find has inspired a major exhibition on Richard III. Also, two medieval silver brooches are declared treasure.
