Editorial
We all dream of finding a hammered gold coin; this week Tom Richards sent in a very good example of a noble of Edward III. Mor gold in the form of a guinea of George III. An extremely rare penny of William I was also sent in; is it genuine?
A vervel with a hedgehog symbol caught my eye while looking through recent PAS finds. Some research took me to the “Land of the Hedgehogs” – I’d not heard of such a place in England.
In PAS finds there are several finds of note including a regionally important roman cockerel figurine; the story of the link with the god Mercury and why people were buried with their head resting on the corpse of a real bird.
