Editorial

With the hundreds of coins that readers have sent it is becoming increasingly rare to get one from a mint that has not featured before. This week we had three new mints: a Henry III penny from Bury St Edmunds, a Denarius of Augustus from Lugdunum and a Penning of Floris V from Dordrecht.

PAS finds include a Flobert style pistol and two Roman hoards.

Find of the Week

Penny of Eadberht Praen

Only one third of a penny but one of Eadberht Praen who had only a very short reign and hence his coins are very rare

Runner Up

Denarius of Augustus

This denarius is a coin of Augustus, who was originally known as Octavian and was the great-nephew of Julius Caesar.

PAS Finds

Flobert style pistol, two Roman hoards and an unusual three quarter cut penny.
