Two Detectorists donate treasure finds to museum
On Friday, June 18, the Treasure Registrars announced that this Medieval gold ring had been donated to Bassetlaw Museum, Retford, by the detectorist who found it. It was found in September 2018 in Bassetlaw and recorded at the PAS as LVPL-4CF277. Raman spectroscopy suggests that the stone is a spinel.
Carolingian-style strap end
The previous week, it was announced that this silver Carolingian-style strap-end had also been donated by the detectorist finder, Lawrence Bone, to Hertford Museum.
Lawrence unearthed the strap-end in October 2018 in East Hertfordshire. It is recorded by the PAS as BH-8F458C.
