Sixpence of Elizabeth I
Steve Hurst said this coin was his best find to date. He asked me to let him know exactly what it is and what it might be worth.
The coin is a hammered silver sixpence of Elizabeth I. It is dated 1594 on the reverse and has mint mark woolpack on both side. In the Standard Catalogue it is listed as a coin of the sixth issue as number 2578B.  Â
Valuation
The queen’s face is a little weak and the coin appears to have a bend across the upper part of the obverse but it could still be described as about VF for the period. In its present condition my price range would be £80 to £100.
