Penny of Elizabeth I
The finder of this 14mm in diameter coin wished to remain anonymous. He thought it was a hammered silver penny and asked for a full ID and a valuation.
This is a coin of Elizabeth I and at 14mm in diameter it is a penny. On the obverse the legend reads I D G ROSA SINE SPINA and on the reverse we have CIVI TAS LON DON. The mint mark is a figure 2, which dates the coin to 1602.   Â
Valuation
On the obverse the bust of Queen Elizabeth is slightly weak but the coin is well and centrally struck and overall it is better than Fine. In its present condition my price range would be £30-40.
