London halfgroat of Edward III
The images of this 22mm in diameter hammered silver coin came in from Martin Depear, who asked for a full ID and a valuation.
Martin’s find is a London halfgroat of Edward III. I was struck during the fourth coinage, pre treaty period and is an example of series C so it dates from 1351 or 1352. In the Standard Catalogue it is listed as number 1374.
Valuation
The obverse is well and centrally struck and would grade about VF. The reverse isn’t as good and is off centre. In its present condition by price range on this halfgroat would be £45-55.
