London farthing of Richard II
This very small hammered silver coin came in from Graham Gislam with a request for it to be identified and valued. It’s a farthing and is shown greatly enlarged.
The coin is a London farthing of Richard II. On the obverse is the king’s head with no neck or shoulders. All medieval farthings used to be rare but over the years the rarity of many has been diluted due to the number of new examples unearthed by detectorists.
Valuation
The reverse of Graham’s find has been struck well off centre but the coin is otherwise in Fine condition. My price range on it would be £120-150.
