Halfpenny of Henry VI
The images of this hammered silver coin were sent in by Keith Brown on behalf of his detecting partner. This find was unearthed on the 25th of August in Dorset and a full ID and a valuation was needed.
The coin measures roughly 15mm in diameter so it is a halfpenny. On the obverse the legend reads +hEnRIC REX AnGL and there are no other distinguishing marks. On the reverse we have a CIVI TAS LOn DOn legend and there is an annulet in two quarters. Leading on from all this, I can say that this is a halfpenny of Henry VI, which was struck at London during the annulet coinage.
Valuation
This isn’t a scarce coin but it would grade better than Fine so to a collector it should be worth £25.
