Halfgroat of Henry VI

This is another find from the collection of detecting finds built up by Stephen Palmer. It’s a hammered silver coin, in the shape of a halfgroat of Henry VI.

On the reverse the inner legend reads VIL LA CALI SIE, with a mascle before LA, a double saltire stop after it and a rosette after SIE. The obverse legend is weak in places but I can see one rosette. Therefore, this halfgroat was struck at Calais during the rosette mascle coinage of Henry VI.

Valuation

Some of the obverse legend doesn’t show up but the coin is otherwise in near VF condition, so my price range would be £90 to £100.
