Gold Quarter Stater – Corded Triangle type of the Cantiaci
The detectorist who sent in this coin signed himself as ‘Pete’. He said it was unearthed whilst he was detecting in Kent and he needed a full ID and a valuation.
The coin is an Ancient British gold quarter stater of the Cantiaci. The obverse is blank. On the reverser is a hose facing left, with a corded triangle above and a cross-hatched square below. Therefore, this is an example of the Corded Triangle type, which is listed in Ancient British Coins as number 198,
Valuation
Parts of the horse are flat but apart from that this quarter stater is otherwise in better than Fine condition so my price range would be £280-320.
