Friday Update: 11 February 2022
Editorial
It’s great to have so many new readers in recent weeks and we’re now very near the 500 followers milestone on Facebook. A wide variety of interesting readers finds have come in this week – a couple of which I haven’t seen before as detecting finds. Plus a Roman coin that provides a cautionary tale. We also have a find in from one of our reader’s collection; always happy to value or identify coins or artefacts that you have found some time ago.
In the news, Lancashire have put cross Pennine rivalries aside and have lent the Silverdale hoard collection to the Jorvik Viking Centre in York. The Silverdale hoard was a detecting find from 2011 and included a coin of Harthacnut, a ruler whose name was previously lost to history.
In PAS finds is a nationally important millefiori Roman brooch.
