Elizabeth I sixpence

This coin of Elizabeth I came in from Michael Young, who said he was very pleased with it due to its condition.

It’s a hammered coinage sixpence, which is dated 1571 on the reverse and has mint mark castle on both sides. Over the last 25 years I’ve unearthed seven Elizabeth I sixpences but all but two have been very worn and/or badly damaged.

Valuation

Michael’s find wold grade good Fine but it has some deposit on both sides, which detracts from its overall appearance. However, it is in above average condition for a detecting find. As it stands, I’d price it at £50 – £60.
