Elizabeth I sixpence
This coin of Elizabeth I came in from Michael Young, who said he was very pleased with it due to its condition.
It’s a hammered coinage sixpence, which is dated 1571 on the reverse and has mint mark castle on both sides. Over the last 25 years I’ve unearthed seven Elizabeth I sixpences but all but two have been very worn and/or badly damaged.   Â
Valuation
Michael’s find wold grade good Fine but it has some deposit on both sides, which detracts from its overall appearance. However, it is in above average condition for a detecting find. As it stands, I’d price it at £50 – £60.
