Edward III London halfgroat
Tony Hollis asked for an ID and a valuation on this hammered silver coin, which is roughly 22mm in diameter.
The coin is an Edward III London halfgroat, of which there are many varieties. Just visible at the top of the obverse is the base of a crown so this halfgroat must have been struck during series F of the fourth coinage. This was an early instance of a die have something other than a cross at the start of the legend.   Â
Valuation
The obverse has been struck off centre and would grade only Fair but the reverse is better. The coin also looks to have been clipped. In its present condition my highest valuation figure would be £20.
