Paul Marland is the finder of this voided short cross penny. It’s not scarce but any hammered silver coin counts as a good detecting find.

The coin is a class 7b penny of Henry III. On the reverse the legend reads +TOMAS ON CANT, so Tomas is the moneyer and Canterbury the mint. In the Standard Catalogue pennies of this class are listed as number 1356B.

Valuation

 Paul’s find is in nearly Fine condition and should be worth around £25 to a collector.
