Sovereign of George IV
The finder of the gold sovereign featured here wished to remain anonymous but asked if I could provide him with a valuation.
On the reverse, beneath St. George and the Dragon, is 1821, which is the first date to appear on sovereigns of George IV. The design is different to the sovereigns of George III, in that there is no legend on the reverse.
Valuation
There are many faint marks on both sides of the coin but it is otherwise in VF condition. In its present state of preservation a likely pre-sale auction estimate would be £800-1,000.
