Shilling of William III
The finder of this coin asked to remain anonymous. It’s an early milled shilling in much better condition than most others I have seen.
The coin is a shilling of William III. On the obverse is the third bust or the third bust variety; it is very difficult to differentiate one from the other. However, whether it is one or the other makes no difference in terms of its value. On the reverse of the coin the date, 1697, is divide up by the shield bearing the English Coat of Arms.
Valuation
The coin has been struck slightly off centre but both sides would grade VF. In its present condition it should be worth £150 to £180 to a collector.
