Quarter noble of Edward III

The finder of this hammered gold coin asked to remain anonymous. It was unearthed from an arable field in Gloucestershire and I was asked to provide a full ID and a valuation.

The coin is a quarter noble of Edward III, which was struck at London during the treaty period (1361-69). On the obverse the legend reads +EDWARD DI GRA REX AnGL withj a curule type X in REX. On the reverse there is a fleur de lis in the centre. In the Standard Catalogue the type is listed as number 1510.

Valuation

The state of preservation of this coin leaves much to be desired. Scuff marks show up on both sides, there is a crack in the flan and overall it would grade no better than Fair. In its present condition my highest price estimate would be £200.
