Penny of Henry III
This is the first coin from a group sent in by Ray Kyte. I was told it was found 50 years since, which was a period when Ray used to go out detecting.
The coin is a voided short cross penny of Henry III. Mainly on the style of the lettering, it can be pinned down to class 7b. On the reverse the legend reads +SIMVND ON CAN so Simon is the moneyer and Canterbury the mint.
Valuation
This Henry III penny would grade Fine+ so to a collector it should be worth £35.
