Penny of Henry II
Steve Bartlett said this coin turned up in Cumbria. A valuation was needed in order to pass on a figure to the owner of the land on which the coin was found.
Steve’s find is a class Ic voided short cross penny of Henry II. On the reverse the legend reads +RAVL ON LVNDE, so Raul is the moneyer and London the mint. There is a very large stop before ON and probably another after it but it doesn’t show up.
Valuation
This penny has no sign of any circulation wear. Unfortunately, the obverse has been struck well off centre and this has left it looking very unattractive. However, it should still be worth around £60-70 to a keen collector.
