Penny of Henry I

This is another David Woodhouse find but it is English rather than Scottish.

The coin is a penny of Henry I, who was the third son of William the Conqueror. On the reverse is a quadrilateral on a cross fleury so the coin is an example of type 15.

On the reverse the only letters that show up are DENE; this is most likely to be the end on the London mint signature (LVNDENE).

Valuation

The flan is irregular, chipped and more than half of each side is flat. However, Henry I type 15 pennies are rare as detecting finds so a collector who simply wants an example of the reign and type should be willing to pay £120-150 for this coin.
