A medieval copper alloy harness pendant from the 13th or 14th century.

Sword Pommel Cap

Found: Milton Keynes

An Anglo-Saxon cast copper-alloy sword pommel cap, “cocked hat” type. The pommel cap is the tip of the hilt that anchors the hilt fittings to the sword blade. 

A large number of highly decorated pommel caps were found in the Staffordshire Hoard.
