Selection of other finds
Silver sewing ring
A cast silver sewing ring or open-topped thimble with a suggested date of 1630 – 1700. Given its age and material, it is being submitted for consideration as Treasure
Medieval Harness Pendant
A gilded copper alloy harness pendant dating to circa 1150 – 1350. It is spoon shaped with a scallop design.
Posy Ring
A gold posy ring with the inscription in italic script “God Knitt our hearts in faith“. The style of lettering has been used to date the ring to 1650 – 1800. However, it was considered most probable that the ring was less than 300 years old and therefore did not qualify as Treasure.
Aesica brooch
An almost complete copper alloy Aesica brooch dating to 1st Century AD. This type of brooch is named after a brooch found during the excavation of Aesica (now known as Great Chesters) fort on Hadrian’s Wall in 1894.
