London halfpenny of Henry V

Colin Barton said this hammered silver coin was unearthed by his son on the 1st of March. I was asked to provide full details on this find.

The coin measures about 15mm in diameter so it is a halfpenny. It’s a London coin of Henry V. On the obverse there is an annulet to the right of a king’s crown and a trefoil to the left (only two of the three pellets show up). Therefore, this halfpenny is an example of Henry V series F and is listed in the Standard Catalogue as number 1796.

Valuation

The coin is weak in places but good enough to grade Fine so it should be worth £25-30 to a keen collector.
