Henry III voided long cross penny
Ian Fussell sent in this hammered coin to be identified and valued. The valuation was required to pass on to the owner of the land on which the coin was found.
Ian’s find is a Henry III voided long cross penny, which is an example of class 5b2. On the reverse the legend reads NIC OLE ONL VND, so Nicole is the moneyer and London the mint.  Â
Valuation
Both sides of the coin have been struck a bit off centre but this penny is otherwise in near VF condition. It’s a decent looking coin, on which my price range would be £45 to £55.
