Henry III penny
The detectorist who unearthed this coin wanted to remain anonymous. The find is a voided long cross penny of Henry III, which is in above average condition.
On the obverse this king’s head is similar to the one on class 2. However, this coin is an example of class 3a1.
On the reverse the legend reads NIC OLE ONC ANT, so the moneyer is Nicole and the mint Canterbury.
Valuation
The edge is partly weak on the obverse but this side is otherwise about VF; the reverse is VF. In its present condition the retail price on this Henry III voided long cross penny would be around £80.
