Halfpenny of George II

Mike Ruczynski asked for my opinion as to the commercial value of the copper coin pictured here.

The coin is a halfpenny of George II. On the obverse is the old head of King George and on the reverse, beneath the seated figure of Britannia, is the date, 1753. The coin would grade good VF with splendid surfaces and great eye appeal.

Valuation

This isn’t a detecting find. Instead, Mike told me that he purchased it for £10 from a RSPCA charity shop. A very similar coin recently sold at auction for a hammer price of £150 so at £10 this 1753 halfpenny was an outstanding bargain.
