Halfpenny of Charles I

This hammered silver coin measures only 10mm in diameter and was found by Steve Bartlett, who asked for a valuation to pass on to a landowner.

The coin is a silver halfpenny of Charles I. It has a rose on both sides and beaded outer circles but nothing else whatsoever. In the Standard Catalogue it is listed as number 2851.

Valuation

There are scratches on one side and both edges are a bit flat but overall it is better than average for the denomination. I have seen very few halfpennies of Charles I as detecting finds so this specimen should be worth £15-20 to a collector.
