Groat of Henry VI

The detectorist who found this coin asked to remain anonymous. I was told that it was unearthed during a club dig and the finder wanted to know its current value.

This find is a groat of Henry VI, which was struck at Calais during the rosette mascle coinage. At this time Calais was in English hands and would remain so until it was lost during the reign of Mary Tudor.

Valuation

The coin would grade a bit better than VF but is slightly short of flan. In its present condition this Henry VI groat would be worth around £180 to a collector.
