George V, half sovereign
John Lashmar asked if I would give him a valuation on the coin, which is a gold half sovereign of George V.
On the obverse is the head of King George and on the reverse St. George and the dragon. Beneath the hoof of St. George’s horse is a letter M, which indicates this half sovereign was struck at the Melbourne mint in Australia.
Valuation
1915 half sovereigns from the Melbourne mint are fairly common so even though this one looks to be in EF condition, my price range would be no higher than £150 – £160.Â
