George IV gold sovereign
Here’s another coin that came in from Mark Hesketh. Rather than being hammered silver this one is milled gold.
The coin is a George IV gold sovereign, which is dated 1821 beneath the figure of George and the dragon on the reverse.
Valuation
The coin would grade VF but there are several tiny nicks to the surface on the obverse. When sold at auction sovereigns of this type and date in the same condition sell for close to £800
