Friday Update: 18 February 2022
Editorial
With storm Eunice raging it may be difficult to get out detecting this weekend. Maybe a good time to look through your collection to see if there is anything that might interest our readers; this week George Bates sent in a denarius of Elagabus which he found some 50 years since. The coin turns out to be a bit of a mystery. Some other good detecting finds include an Anglo-Saxon crucifix and a denarius of Claudius and Agrippina; the second one of these rare coins in the last couple of weeks.
PAS has recorded some interesting finds this week including a quadruple seal matrix and a silver merchant ring.
There is a review of DNW’s upcoming auction of Irish coins and tokens including examples from the various emergency issues. I look at the history behind the Inchiquin coinage produced during the Irish rebellion.
