Edward III half groat

This hammered silver coin is the second from a large batch that came in from Tony Hollis to be identified and valued.

The coin is a London halfgroat of Edward III. It was struck during series E of the fourth coinage of the pre treaty period. In the Standard Catalogue halfgroats of this type are listed as number 1576.     

Valuation

The reverse has been struck off centre but the coin is otherwise in Fine to good Fine condition and should be worth £35 – £40
