Edward III groat

Derek Henderson said this 25mm in diameter hammered silver coin was found in Lincolnshire. He believed it was a groat but asked for confirmation of his ID and a valuation on his find.

The coin is an Edward III groat, which has mint mark crown on both sides. It was struck during the fourth coinage, pre-treaty period and is an example of series F so it dates from 1356. Coins of series F are different to others of Edward III as the mint mark is a crown rather than a cross.

Valuation

There is a small weak area on the obverse but this groat is otherwise in about VF condition so my price range would be £100 to £120.
