Denarius of Antoninus Pius
This is the last coin from the group that came in from Diane. It’s another denarius, this one being a coin of Antoninus Pius, whose dates are AD 138 to161.
On the obverse the legend reads ANTONINVS AVG PIVS P P COS III around the laureate head of the emperor.
On the reverse the standing figure of Virtus is accompanied by a legend reading VIRTVS AVG. In volume II of David Sear’s Roman Coins and Their Values denarii of this type are listed as number 4138. They were struck at Rome during AD 144.
Valuation
This is an attractive Roman silver coin and it would grade good VF so my price range would be £60-80.
