Anglo-Saxon silver strap fitting donated to Museum
This week, the Treasure Registrars thanked the detectorist and landowner for donating this item of treasure to their local museum, Discover Bucks Museum. It was unearthed by Anthony Pearce in April 2017 in Aylesbury Vale, Buckinghamshire and recorded at the PAS as BERK-95416E.
The item is a silver strap fitting that has been dated to the late sixth to seventh centuries. It likely functioned with a strap threaded through the loop and secured elsewhere, possibly an opposing buckle or simply tied.
