London groat of Henry VII

John Howman wasn’t sure about the exact identity of this coin so he asked if I could let him have a full ID.

The coin is a London groat of Henry VII. On the obverse the king wears a crown with two jewelled arches and the mint mark is an escallop on both sides. Therefore, this is an example of type IIIb, which is listed in the Standard Catalogue as number 2198A.

Valuation

This groat is slightly short of flan but is otherwise VF with an excellent portrait of King Henry. It’s an attractive coin, on which my price range would be £220-250.
