Victoria halfcrown

Robert Davie sent in this coin with a group of other finds. It’s a Victorian halfcrown, which is dated 1879 on the obverse.

In the Standard Catalogue halfcrowns of this type are listed as number 3889. Lots of Victorian sixpences and shillings turn up as detecting finds but not many halfcrowns.

Valuation

Robert’s find would grade about Fine and in its present condition it would be worth £12 – £15 to a collector.
