Shilling of James I
Pictured here is a very clipped shilling of James I, which was recently unearthed by Glyn Peak.
Last week we featured a Scottish 12 shilling piece that was badly clipped and this week we have an English shilling, which is in the same state. This shilling has the sixth bust of King James on the obverse so it was struck during the third coinage (1619-25). As it stands, it would have passed for no more than sixpence.   Â
Valuation
What remains of the coin is in Fine condition but with the severe clipping my highest price range would be £15-18.
