London penny of Edward I
This coin was found by Andrew Bayne, who said he knew it was an Edward penny but that was all. I was asked if I could provide a more exact ID.
The coin is a London penny of Edward I and it belongs to class Xc-f. There are many minor varieties of Edward I class Xc-f, which eventually merge into Edward II.
Andrew’s find would grade Fine in terms of circulation wear but at 9 o’clock it has a piece missing from the edge. The condition could be better but I’ve seen far worse pennies of Edward I as detecting finds.
